More "Global Litigators" are bailing out of SF and moving to Jones Day, according to the ABA Journal. Stephen O'Neal (obviously, no longer Co-Chair of Howrey's Global Litigation group), David Buoncristiani, John Foust, Aaron Gruber, Kent Lindsay, Daven Lowhurst, and Clark Thiel are all part of the move. I have read bits and pieces about Stephen O'Neal, the former head of the now defunct Thelen law firm, criticizing the way he bailed out of Thelen as that firm crumbled into pieces. Anyone care to shed some light?
O'Neal's Thelen bio listed him as the "Firm Chairman, Office of the Chair." It is interesting to note that while Bobby R has many titles (CEO, Managing Partner, Chairman of the Board, Grandmaster Sensei), he has yet to acquire the title "Office of the Chair." Bobby better boogie if he wants that one.
That's it, man, game over. Game over! What are we going to do now, man? What are we going to do?
ReplyDeleteAliens. Nice.
ReplyDelete21 days since the Winston offers is rapidly approaching. Any updates on acceptance rate? Next steps?
ReplyDelete@ 10:15 when do the 21 day offers supposedly expire?
ReplyDeleteHeard offers went out February 7. So they have to be accepted, and conditions met (whatever they are), on February 25th or 26th, depending when you start counting.
ReplyDeleteArticles published on Feb 3 say they were given the Sunday before. I was assuming 21 days from then. Is that wrong?
ReplyDeleteCould be. That would mean next Monday the partners have to acept or not. After which, Level 1 partners, associates, and staff will be on pins and needles.
ReplyDeleteBad due diligence, Jones Day. Bad due diligence.
ReplyDeleteSo the Howrey website still lists the following partners that haven't been mentioned in press releases announcing that they are leaving. Can anyone confirm they still work at Howrey?
ReplyDeletePaul Berning
Teresa Corbin
Bobby Ghajar
Robert Harkins
John Heisse
Robert Phillips
John Ralls
David Stewart
To Howrey's credit, they seem to finally be removing partners from the website that have left.
ReplyDeleteThe real questions are: What does the remaining rainmaking/service proportion look like? And what does Ruyak have to deliver to close the deal?
ReplyDeleteThis whole thing makes me sick to my stomach. This must be how celebrities feel when they're going through a bad, highly-publicized breakup. But it beats being completely in the dark and relying on management to tell us what's going on.
ReplyDeleteHmm, I think the analogy falls apart in one key respect--after you've been dumped by a crazy hot celebrity, well, you know, at least you were with a crazy hot celebrity. In our case, everyone now just knows we were taking it up the *** from Bob.
ReplyDelete"To Howrey's credit, they seem to finally be removing partners from the website that have left."
ReplyDeletePerhaps because people here have been threatening to send a list of names to the DC Bar. We know Howrey management monitors this blog, so perhaps they wisely decided to get out in front.
anyone that ends up at winston has a world of hurt awaiting them. u have to live it to truly comprehend the phrase Hell On Earth. it's more than just an abstract concept - it really happens.
ReplyDeleteWow, the thelen bios are still up? Guess I shouldn't complain about Howrey not taking mine down yet.
