And more confirmation of recent departures. Right here.

  1. if only amlaw, abovethelaw, and most other law blogs weren't 2-4 weeks behind the actual departure dates, people might take them more seriously.

    so...about those who insisted EPA and SF would stay open? not looking so bright as more and more partners leave daily, now is it (and no, i'm not gloating as i know many who are left in the dark and will be SOL once the doors close)? don't worry, amlaw, abovethelaw, etc. will get around to covering that 'breaking news' 2-4 weeks after those offices have closed.

    those who could ride off into the sunset to jones day and morgan lewis on the partners' tails left long ago. those who have no partners' tails to follow on are...well, ouch. Tough time to have another brobeck or thelen type of implosion. tough times out there and it's too bad most lawyers and staff never took the time to cultivate more than 1 skill or source of income.

  2. btw, has anyone else noticed that when you click certain howrey locations, rather than having the specific office's HR contact and specific office's managing partner contact listed (as used to be the case), most now say this (or some small variation)?

    Contacts

    * Joanne Lichtman
    Co-Managing Partner
    +1 213.892.1919
    LichtmanJ@howrey.com
    vCard
    * Tyrone R. Childress
    Co-Managing Partner
    +1 213.892.1806
    ChildressT@howrey.com
    vCard
    * Christine M. Till
    Sr. Director, Public Relations & Communications
    +1 202.383.7127
    TillC@howrey.com
    vCard

    only those offices which may possibly be bailed out by WS have a non-dc office contact listed (see houston and NOVA). even those that had a slim hope of being saved (EPA, SF, LA) have recently changed their contact info.

    some might say that little nugget, along with the "departure" notation that's been listed next to certain offices in Outlook might be another sign that the end's near. then again,
    la, la, la, it probably means nothing. all is well. ruyak will turn this ship right around.

  3. What's the big deal everyone? Everything is going according to the plan. Chill out - these departures were planned years ago. Just keep up the good work. Remember, we're a family. One big happy family. We would never do anything to jeopardize our family! Family family family. Plan plan plan.

  4. My new theory is that they're trying to shrink the firm so much that they can avoid WARN Act requirements (e.g., two months severance) for the remaining employees.

  5. Not difficult to ascertain the two partners and 3 associates who likely will join Jones Day with Rooklidge and Cote.

  7. Sharktanklegal.com says:

    Three partners are expected to lead the dissolution efforts, former managing partner Robert Ruyak, the firm general counsel Roger Klein and Robert Green. Ruyak, who earns $3 million a year as the firm CEO is not likely to join his former partners at Winston, according to sources. He has not actively practiced law since he took over the firm management in 2000, and would not be likely to be part of Winston’s management, certainly not at the level he is accustomed to making. “As part of the Howrey dissolution team,” said one source, “Ruyak can continue to control his own salary until that is completed.”

    Well, gee. Well, gee.
