Not news. Partners probably didn't get offers at WInston. Neal Gerber is a low quality regional firm. This would be news if the partners went to Mayer or Sidley.
Actually, Jill is considered one of the top insurance recovery practicioners in the country. I suspect they could not go to Winston in any event because of conflicts--most large firms like Winston represent quite a few insurance companies.
Jill has had quite a month. Apparently she was bouncing off the walls with joy when she thought she was going to get an offer from Winston & Strawn, which in Chicagoland is apparently perceived to be quite a step up from Howrey. When she learned that W & S would not be picking up the insurance coverage practice (due to conflicts with panel counsel work that W & S wants from insurance companies) she went ballistic with Ruyak, who richly deserves any grief that comes comes his way. I'm glad that she and Seth Lamden have been able to make a happy landing. I hope Ruyak continues to go to Mass every day because they're surely carving out a special place in Hell for him.
