  1. Howrey's recruiting pages on its website are still active and bit fun to read -- especially Bobby's quote about reaching the pinnacle of your career at Howrey.

  2. So in the end did anyone other than the couple of Antis from DC and the Houston bunch have to go to Winston?

  3. The Howrey website lists 91 partners in D.C.

Subtract Dekker, Gans, Hataway, Henry, Levine, McNamara, Ness, O'Brien, and Philip, and you're at 82.

I would assume that approximately twenty partners in D.C. have decided to leave but have not yet publicly announced their departures.

That would put the number at 62--about half the NALP February 2010 number.

Assuming conservatively that Winston takes 2/3 of the remaining partners, that means Winston gets 40 partners in D.C.

  4. Is there intel on whether any of the departing partners have brought associates or staff with them?

  5. Some departing partners have brought associates + staff, but others haven't. Usually it's been more sr associates getting brought w/partners. Jr associates + staff w/o partners are SOL generally.

  6. At least one partner is making assoc commence ten days prior to his arrival to see whether he can avoid getting bedbugs. Not sure what he thinks he's going to do at that time. Apparently there is ultimately no way to avoid getting them.

  7. ...and apparently he's gone from being a Partner at Howrey to "Senior Of Counsel" at MoFo. What does that mean? Sure sounds like a demotion. Why would that happen? Could it have something to do with him being a completely miserable and unpleasant person to work with?

  8. @12:10: Amen, sister.

  9. He was a difficult person to work with but it's most likely because of his age.

  10. I worked with Ezra, and we got along fine. He can be demanding, but don't you want that in a law practice?
