Welcome to It's Howrey Doody Time

Well, the howreydoin blog might have been pulled down, but let's try again.  Please post any news that you may have about Howrey here -- departures, office closings, rife speculation.  Let's have it.

THIS BLOG IS NOT RUN BY HOWREY OR AFFILIATED WITH HOWREY IN ANY WAY.

  2. Good luck with the blog. I hope it becomes a good source of information (like HowreyDoin and Heller Highwater).

  3. Sure would like to know what spooked the howreydoin. The email mentions personal threats.

  4. What is going on? Yesterday the supposed deal was that WS would give offers to most everyone in four US offices only (Washington, DC, Houston and two offices in NoCal. So they get more than half the firm but leave behind a lot of people and offices and liabilities. What actually happened? Are the partners going to get back their capital? What is the story?

  5. Winston is supposedly taking all of Houston. Some of the Cali offices. Most of Chicago. They have been in both Houston and Chicago during the last week.

As Howreydoin said last week, set up a Google alert. Not as to-the-minute as HD was, but still somewhat informative.

  6. howrey irvine's closing. all the big guys (gooding, rooklidge, garner, etc.) have left. giali's the only 'big partner' left + is probably on his way out. some staff/associates are going w/them to morgan and/or jones day. la may be saved, but i don't think they have enough $$$ partners to take the whole la office.

having seen howrey so cal grow from a rather small firm all the way through the boom years to the downsizing of the past few years has been quite a trip. sad to see. even sadder to know that it could've been avoided.

  11. The Howrey Irvine office was run into the ground by a poor administrator and support staff that wasn't equipped to work in a large firm. It's run like a "mom and pop" shop, not an office that's part of an international law firm.

  12. irvine, la and nor cal are all going down. too much bloat for too many years. of course, by the time the law blogs catch onto this, the doors will already be shut. only took them 2 weeks to report on gooding/rooklidge leaving haha

  14. How much is Ruyak getting paid off by Winston to "encourage" partners to accept ASAP... I wonder.

  17. I can't think of a firm that deserves it more. You guys have really made my day. Maybe you guys can go out and get a real job and actually produce something for this country.

  18. Hopefully John Keville can find a new position. He could be the first to go out of the Houston office, you know he's the main rainmaker in that bunch and will be heavily recruited based on his tremendous success. I'm sure all the other partners will follow his lead since he is the man to watch! I'm not sure why he's not on the front page yet but keep your eyes open for this handsome devil.

This is the guy that has a hard drive that some guy buried in his yard. http://www.bizjournals.com/houston/stories/2008/08/11/focus3.html

It doesn't get any better than that!! His article says he keeps it on his desk!

    He also loves the polygraph!!!
“They are fairly inaccurate,” he says, “but they can scare people into telling the truth.

Nobody can stand up to this guy!!! He is the B-Man in H-Town!!!

    I love it!!!!

Good Luck John - hope you survive this with your usual flair!!
