Michael Padden Jumps

Michael Padden of the Chicago office has jumped to Levenfeld Perlstein.  What's interesting is that Winston & Strawn sort of has a Chicago office... .

  2. couple of thoughts. first, the chicago partners may not have gotten offers. second, the chicago partners may know more about winston. if the various posts on ATL are to be believed (i know, i know...), winston's m.o. is to pick off clients and ditch the partners who brought them.

the source notwithstanding, it wouldn't totally surprise me given the rush on howrey's part to get any deal done that they would choose a partner very poorly.

  3. He started there well over a week ago.

A lot of these departed partners were already looking elsewhere before Winston came into the picture. No scandal or red flags about w&s were involved in some of their choices to go elsewhere.

  4. Bob here - relax everyone, everything is going according to the plan. Thanks to all the recent reductions, Howrey is stronger than ever, and well positioned to remain a mainstay of the legal landscape for the next 1000 years.

  5. He may not have gotten an offer at W&S. Judging by his destination - Levenfield Perlstein - he probably didn't have the business to be a partner at Winston. This would be a story if he had headed to Mayer or somewhere similar.

  6. Why are you still talking about this? This dissolution has already been announced. It is over. Move on. Don't you have anything better to do - like look for a new job?

  7. In response to the aptly-named BORING, there is no news regarding which partners (if any) will go to W&S and which non-partners will go along. In fact, I've not seen anything about whether any departing partners have invited counsels or associates.
More directly, we're talking about it because the management isn't. I think a many people would be content to hear the straight dope and then shut up. The straight dope is not forthcoming.

  10. Any news on the deadline for Howrey partners to accept the Winston offers? Will they shut the lights out on Howrey on 3/1

  11. I heard there will be a "letter" given to everyone on Tuesday 3/1. Whether it will be an offer, or a termination letter, that remains to be seen.

  12. I thinks its pretty likely that not everyone will get offers so there will be some termination notices. My only question is: will those terminated be so immediately (hopefully w/severance) or will they be told that after a date they'll be terminated. I'd imagine they cant completely get rid of all non-Winston people immediately on March 1.

  13. I think a bigger question is whether there may be a March 1 letter that says "Dear all, we are dissolving. Good luck to you."
